SA businesses must regard telecoms infrastructure as a strategic investment
South African businesses are being challenged to break the mould and to regard telecommunications infrastructure as a strategic investment in a rapidly changing communications landscape. This is the message from Neotel, SA’s second fixed-line telephone network operator, as a range of new hi-tech services come to market.
Stefano Mattiello, executive head of Neotel’s enterprise group, says: “The question is at what point will businesses start viewing telecommunications as a strategic investment rather than as a grudge spend?
“For too long now South Africans have had no choice in the telecommunications arena and this has led to a kind of take- it-or-leave-it attitude on the part of the network service provider. The service has tended to be prescriptive, with limited options for customers.
