Neotel CFO resigns

Johannesburg - Neotel's chief financial officer (CFO) Aruna Gupta has resigned after the country's new telecommunications operator uncovered allegations of "improper conduct".

Speaking on 702's The World at Six on Thursday night, recently appointed executive head for external affairs at Neotel, Wandile Zote confirmed that Gupta had been suspended from the company on Monday, pending the outcome of an enquiry into the matter.

World at Six host Bruce Whitfield said he'd received a number of calls from suppliers who had not been able to collect their cheques from Neotel's offices on Wednesday.

They said the company had informed them, that nobody was signing cheques, because the CFO had "walked out".
